Energy low? Inspiration in the gutter?
by Carrie Mar 15, 2009
I don't know about you, but I go through many points where I just don't feel like working out. My body feels tired, and I just don't want to have to sweat and push it. It's hard work. Darn hard, and I'm tired of doing it.
Ever feel that way? If you answered, no, then I'm very surprised. Yes, well you are not alone.
Usually I like to workout. Okay let me rephrase that. I like the way I feel after the workout, and the benefits I recieve from the workouts. The actual workout itself is always tough. It's tough because I make it that way. I never just relax during a workout and lift easy weights, or do cardio at an easy pace. What's the point? If I'm going to do it, I want to make the absolute most out of it.
So what to do at these low points?
Here are some things that have really helped me along the way:
- make a serious effort to think about why you started this fitness program or way of life in the first place. Look over your goals again and think about what it is going to take to get there.
- think about your fat cells expanding ( thanks a lot Russ) as you are sitting there talking yourself out of the workout.
- grab a fitness magazine and read some of the articles. Get some new idea's on how to try something new. Spice it up! Look at the body's in there and think of what it took them to get there.
- think about how you want to look for yourself and your significant other.
- sign into this site and start typing the reasons why you are not going to workout today ( see how far you get into typing that)!
- think of someone who has just posted about a great workout and try to match or beat that!
- contemplate what it would look like to have to write down,... you didn't feel like working out today so you didn't.
- think of how great it feels to be done a workout!
- and of course the old saying goes, "You don't have to want to do it, you just have to do it."
- post what you are going to do for your workout. Then write, you will come back when it's done and let everyone know how it went. Can't deny that kind of accountability.
All these things have helped to get me going when I felt like sitting.
You can and you will. I have faith in you.
