Legs from Unity, SK - Canada | Sep 5, 2010 13:31:08 (Mountain Standard Time)

Hi team: I havent been here much lately but needed to let this site know that I completed my challenge in memory of BFLMike Harris as promised, to me, for him. It was not as perfect as I had hoped but I certainly can't fool him anymore as I believe he knows all now. :) I did gain strength though in a small way throughout my body which I am thankful for.
My last cardio was out of town and on stairs. The scenery was beautiful - right by the Saskatchewan river, loads of trees and nature. A crisp fall morning, the walking paths were starting to fill with joggers, walkers, bladers, bikers...I was part of that group waking up and putting me first. I felt energized and proud I came here to complete C4. So I did the stairs for 20 min and it was so intense. Half way through I thought my legs would collapse and the stairs being metal with grates started to look like I was stepping in air and I was afraid of misstepping and landing on the sharp metal. I almost stopped. Then the voices came, the short "movie" clips of various workouts I tried over the last 12 weeks, the conversations I had, and the energy of the BFL Coffee Crew got me through the next 10 minutes. I finished with such energy that I went for my VICtory lap around a block then back to my car. I did a jump onto one of the benches, landed then sat in my car and wiped away sweat. :) Then I dont know what happened but I just started to tear up. I wanted to be able to run to a computer and tell BFLMike that I did it, it's over and that this was for him and that my legs are stronger now and my calves are coming along and just to hear what words of wisdom he would say back to me. I felt stupid sitting there trying to look cool as people were still jogging past my car.
It's hard to explain - I just felt such a release I guess. I fulfilled another ME promise and my head just didnt know what to do. BFLMike would "get" how I felt. Anyways, I got myself together and went back to my daughters and began the day with her with one of those "crying headaches" us girls get. :)
My body needs a rest for a few days of getting up early. I still plan on working out, I have those crossfit/boot camp classes Mon. and Wed for the next 2 weeks and plan on blading often.
Main thing for me will be keeping it clean in the kitchen.
Not long to Nashville now - another me promise and invitation accepted from BFLMike. I hope to see some of you there.
Till then - cheers to being a better me, a better you! High 5. |

i JUST WENT and read back some - - acupuncture really helped me too. The Korean doc explained to me that it boost the immune system, and of course deals directly with pain. Just going and getting it done and then resting and listening to soothing music (with needles in) for 30 minutes was amazing. I highly recommend it. Chris - your experience sounds phenomenal!!
G'day Mateys!!

Hey All -
well just took my final pic for my challenge (did the Labrada Challenge) honoring Mike Harris. Will be sending in my essay. Thanks Chris for coming up with this. I wanted to let Ruth know somehow how much Mike meant to me. He held my hand so many times and gave me tough love & motivation.
Miriam - is that you?? wow! I hope so - I have missed you. You are beautiful. If not - I still think you are - but there was a Miriam on BFL GB that was one of my top 3 motivators, you, Sylvia and Mike Harris. Which brings me to ....
SYLVIA! WOW! I have not posted in awhile - it is so good to see you my friend.
I need to get back to posting more.
Love to all!
Bettie

LBWO done for the day-we are all waiting to see what Hurricane Earl has in store for this weekend in NYC.
There are so many benefits to reducing processed food and chemicals in the food we eat. Organic is always the best choice, but you can find foods that are not sprayed heavily and buy conventional produce according to the list of the "clean fifteen" (not sprayed much if at all with pesticides) and avoid the "dirty dozen" (foods that are considered heavily sprayed with pesticides). If you Google the list, it is available on line.
Make it your best day ever!

Aly good for you! Going all organic can be a huge undertaking.
I ran 9 k yesterday. It was a bit slow and I am soar today but am going out again today after work to do the same. Feels good to be active and strong. Way better than having the jeans to tight and trying to suck in your gut! I don't want to go there again, so I have to keep myself moving and motivated. |

Just had to come back and share one victory. Right after I posted the FedEx guy showed up with our green powder. The smell made me want to puke, but I mixed it with some fruit and both my 2 year old and 6 year old willingly drank it, and loved it! So much easier for them than I thought it would be. Love that they can get 8-10 servings of vegetables in just one drink! |

Holy smokes! What an experience attempting to go all organic can be!! With 5 kids in tow yesterday we hit a few stores. I must admit that while standing in the wonderfully air conditioned health food store I literally broke a sweat after looking at the prices of organic produce...it felt a lot like the first day of each of our Disneyland trips and the adjustment it takes to realize that dinner will be $60 for our family and not $20 like at home, LOL! I did find some good deals and stocked up on those items. Costco did have a few really well priced organic items, so that was a nice bonus. To afford this undertaking I will have to buy some regular items, I will just have to stock up on organic when it is on sale.
When I returned home feeling so deflated and quite honestly a bit defeated it was so refreshing to have a supportive husband. He works for a food distributor and was able to order us some high quality produce for really great prices. He will be bringing home pineapple, lemons, frozen strawberries, and coconuts (the kids REALLY want to drink a coconut). After that, I felt so much better about things.
It will be interesting to see how quickly we go through all of this produce though. We hadn't been home 2 seconds before the 2 year old was pulling a knife out of the drawer and stabbing it into the expensive (should be gold laced) watermelon. Such mixed feelings...I WANT them to eat it all, just not all in the first day :O).
Anyways, sorry for the long post. I am very excited to do this for our family, it is a big adjustment, but I feel totally worth it!! I am very curious to see how my body will feel...will I be hungry much? Cravings? Will it really help heal? I guess we'll see! |

HIIT done! NYC is very hot and humid and we may be getting the hurricane tomorrow. I appreciate the positive comments from everyone on the GB. The support is truly a motivator, as is feeling part of a team.
Make it your best day ever!

Kathy good to see you. It will all work out.
Darcy glad to see you back here.
Miriam and Deb and Catherine and Carrie and everyone else! Keep the focus going and do what you can do. PLAN PREPARE EXECUTE! (Russ where are you dude?)
P90X was pretty darn intense today, and I stick it out to the end and I'm worn completely out! I can't remember the lat time I was this tired. Like after I had my babies, and you up all night nursing. I'm almost THAT TIRED!!!! WHAT THE FREAK??????????
LOVE YA MEAN IT!

Not much going on here and no news to report about finding a job. I will keep looking though.
I am not working out and I think that is part of my being down. I will resume the WO in the few days.

Good day gang. It's been a while since I have made the time in my day to log on here. Sorry about that!
Chris it is good to see you are healed and feeling much better.
Kids started back at school today. They were pretty hyped about that. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic.
Workouts have been hit and miss but nutrition has been spot on. I'm going through some medical stuff right now. Nothing serious, just some tests etc... |

Great to hear that Chris is all healed up!
Also very happy to hear that Debs is back on track!!
I've been spending hours and hours researching the raw food diet. I'm pretty excited. I've got recipe's written down, lists made out, and the store picked out to buy my organic food from. I placed my online order for my "green powder" this morning, hoping that will be delivered quickly. Shopping day will be Wednesday, so I guess that will be my official "jump ship" day. Putting a lot of faith in this to heal up my minor skin issues so that I can throw out the arsenal of ointments and be free from the discomfort! I will continue to exercise and build a better body along with this new eating plan. Fat loss would be a nice side effect of the raw diet, but I am much more focused on the healing side of things at this point.
Starting school with the kids next Monday! This week will be spent getting the house in tip top shape and getting this new eating plan underway.
HUGS to all! Have a great day!! |

Chris, I am so happy you are recovered from your terrible accident. I believe all our body wants to do is heal and you found the right person to facilitate it.
LBWO is done for the day-not easy, but over.
I am feeling the end of summer coming and I don't want it to end. NYC has been beautiful lately. I appreciate every minute of it.
